Waverley Inveresk Veterans Match Reports
WIT Veterans vs ESM Veterans – 28th Nov 2011

WIT Veterans notched up another win on Monday night against a efficient, if slightly moaning, ESM team, caming away victorious by 4 – 3. Again, it was a keenly contested match with ESM putting on the early pressure until, around the 10 minute mark, Angus Robertson received the ball on half way and sent a delightful pass through to Nik who linked with Neil Shaw to split their defence, with Neil scoring into an unguarded goal. Neil scored one more and had another couple of chances in the first half for the score to be 2 – 1 at half time, the ESM goal coming from a short corner strike. They came out strongly in the second half and equalised at after some scrappy play in our D. They continued to apply pressure but some more fine saves from Frank Boyd and tight defence kept us in contention. Our midfield kept the hard work going, and linking with the forwards, our 3rd goal came from a deft deflection by Nik past the wrong footed ‘keeper. ESM came back to score another from a rebound off Frank before our central defender Kevan Slater, who had migrated to the opposition D some minutes before, knocked a penetrating pass from the left into the open goal. ESM continued to attack, without success, until the final whistle sounded.
